Is God Still at The Center
An LGS Devotional to start your week.
Do you ever feel stagnant in your faith—in your heart, your mind, or your relationship with God?
Sometimes it happens without us even realizing it.
It’s easy to become so consumed with our daily routines that somewhere along the way, we stop making time to put God at the center of our lives.
Month after month. Year after year.
We get busy.
There are bills to pay—and “money doesn’t grow on trees, you know.”
So we work. We deal with deadlines, responsibilities, and all the stress that comes with them.
Then there are the kids and their activities. Maybe we’re taking care of aging parents. Maybe we’re trying to keep a marriage strong, run a business, maintain a home, or simply keep our heads above water.
The problem is when everything else gets our attention, and God gets whatever is left over.
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
— Matthew 6:33 NKJV
Notice Jesus said first.
Not when everything else is finished.
Not when life finally slows down.
Not when we have more time.
First.
Maybe that’s one reason we sometimes feel stagnant spiritually. We’re asking God to fill our hearts while giving Him very little room in our lives.
Ask yourself:
Am I actually spending time with God?
Not just going to church. Not just listening to Christian music. Not just saying a quick prayer when something goes wrong.
Am I spending time with Him?
Because relationships require time.
Maybe getting closer to God doesn’t require some huge change in our lives. Maybe it begins by simply putting Him back where He belongs—at the center.
Before checking the phone, talk to Him.
Before carrying today’s worries by yourself, give them to Him.
Open your Bible. Spend a few quiet minutes with Him. Pray while you’re driving. Talk to Him throughout your day.
Not because you’re trying to check another box on your list.
Because you want Him involved in your life.
Life probably isn’t going to suddenly become less busy. There will always be another responsibility, another bill, another deadline, or another problem demanding our attention.
So maybe the answer isn’t waiting until we have more time for God.
Maybe it’s deciding that God gets our time now.
Because when God is at the center, it doesn’t mean everything around us suddenly becomes easier.
It means everything around us begins to find its proper place.
So this week, ask yourself one simple question:
Is God getting the center of my life—or just what’s left of it?
And if somehow He’s been pushed to the side, don’t wait for the perfect time to come back.
Start today.
Put Him first. Spend time with Him. Talk to Him. Seek Him.
Because sometimes the change we’ve been asking God to make in our lives begins when we make room for Him in our lives again.
Prayer:
Lord, forgive me for the times I’ve allowed the busyness of life to push You to the side. Help me to seek You first—not just when I need something, but every day. Teach me to make You the center of my thoughts, my decisions, my relationships, and my life. Draw me closer to You and help me make room for what matters most. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God Bless,
Geff & Sarah
