His Mercies Are New Every Morning
A moment of encouragement from LGS to start your week.
“Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23 NKJV
There’s something beautiful about waking up to a new day.
Another sunrise. Another breath. Another opportunity to experience God’s goodness.
But let’s face it. Not every morning feels like a fresh start.
Sometimes we wake up carrying the same worries, disappointments, regrets, or heartaches we went to bed with the night before.
Life doesn’t always go the way we planned.
We’ve all experienced difficult seasons, made mistakes, faced disappointments, and walked through circumstances we never imagined we’d have to face.
But here’s something we hope will encourage your heart today.
Yesterday may have been difficult, but God’s mercy didn’t run out yesterday.
When we read Lamentations 3:22–23, it’s important to remember that these words weren’t written during a time when everything was going wonderfully.
They came out of a season of tremendous sorrow and devastation.
And yet, right there in the middle of all that heartbreak, we find this incredible declaration:
What a beautiful reminder that God’s love and mercy aren’t dependent on our circumstances.
His compassion doesn’t disappear when life gets difficult.
His faithfulness doesn’t change when things don’t go our way.
And His love doesn’t run out when we fall short.
The same God who loved us yesterday is the same God who loves us today.
And I think sometimes we need to remind ourselves of something important.
We don’t have to be thankful for everything we’ve been through to be thankful that God has been with us through it.
Maybe you’ve experienced loss, disappointment, or heartbreak.
Maybe you’ve made decisions you wish you could change.
Or maybe you’re simply tired from everything life has thrown your way.
Whatever your yesterday looked like, remember that God hasn’t forgotten you.
His love is still there. His compassion is still there. And His mercy is still there.
Every morning is another opportunity to thank Him, trust Him, draw closer to Him, and experience His goodness.
And here’s something else worth remembering.
We can become so focused on the things that aren’t going right in our lives that we overlook the blessings God has already given us.
The breath in our lungs. The people we love. The little moments of joy. The prayers He’s answered. And even the strength He’s given us to make it through days we didn’t think we could.
Sometimes the greatest blessing isn’t that everything in our lives has changed.
It’s realizing that through everything we’ve been through, God has remained faithful.
So today, before you allow yesterday’s troubles to steal today’s joy, take a moment to thank the Lord.
Thank Him for His love. Thank Him for His patience. Thank Him for His forgiveness. Thank Him for the blessings you can see and the ways He’s been working that you may not even recognize yet.
Because His mercies aren’t just new on the mornings when everything is going well.
They’re not just new when we’ve made all the right decisions.
They’re not just new when life is falling into place.
They’re new every morning.
And no matter what yesterday looked like, one thing remains true:
You woke up this morning to a God whose love has not changed, whose mercy has not run out, and whose faithfulness will never fail.
A new morning. Fresh mercy. The same faithful God.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unfailing love, Your endless mercy, and Your faithfulness in every season of our lives.
Thank You for being with us through the good days and the difficult ones.
Help us not to become so focused on yesterday’s troubles or tomorrow’s worries that we overlook the blessings You’ve given us today.
Give us thankful hearts, renewed hope, and the strength to trust You with whatever lies ahead.
Remind us each morning that Your compassion never fails and Your mercies are new.
May we never take Your goodness for granted.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God Bless
