Faith Over Fear
A moment of encouragement from LGS to start your week.
Faith Over Fear
"Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
— Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
Fear has a way of getting our attention.
It asks questions like:
What if something goes wrong?
What if I can't handle what's coming?
What if things don't work out the way I hoped?
What if I lose what matters most to me?
And if we listen long enough, those "what ifs" can begin to consume our thoughts.
But Isaiah 41:10 gives us something stronger than our fears: the promises of God.
God doesn't simply say, "Fear not." He tells us why we don't have to live controlled by fear.
"For I am with you."
When fear says, You're alone in this, God says, I am with you.
"I am your God."
When fear tells us everything is out of control, God reminds us that our lives are still in His hands.
"I will strengthen you."
Fear often focuses our attention on our own limitations. We look at what's ahead and think, I don't know if I'm strong enough for this.
Maybe we're not.
But God never asked us to face life in our own strength. He promises to give us His strength.
"Yes, I will help you."
There are moments when we simply don't know what to do. We don't know which decision to make, what tomorrow will bring, or how we're going to make it through.
And right there, God says, I will help you.
"I will uphold you with My righteous right hand."
What a promise.
When we feel like we're losing our footing, God is holding us.
Faith over fear doesn't mean that we will never feel afraid.
It means fear no longer gets to decide how we live.
When fear says, What if? Faith remembers, God is with me.
When fear says, You can't do this, Faith answers, Christ will strengthen me.
When fear says, You're on your own, Faith declares, God has promised to help me.
We overcome fear not by convincing ourselves that nothing bad could ever happen, but by becoming convinced that whatever happens, God will be with us.
Our confidence isn't in ourselves.
Our confidence is in Christ.
Maybe you're facing something today that frightens you. Maybe there's uncertainty in your family, your health, your finances, your work, or your future. Maybe you're fighting a fear you've never told anyone about.
Don't let fear write the ending of a story that God is still writing.
Bring that fear to Jesus.
Pray about it. Give it to Him. Then remind yourself of what God has already said:
I am with you.
I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
I will help you.
I will uphold you.
Whatever you're facing this week, you don't have to face it in your own strength.
Choose faith over fear.
Not because you know what tomorrow holds—but because you know the One who will be there when tomorrow comes.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You know the fears I carry, even the ones I haven't spoken aloud. When fear begins to overwhelm me, help me remember Your promises. Remind me that You are with me, You are my God, You will strengthen me, You will help me, and You will hold me. Teach me to place my confidence in Christ instead of my circumstances. Give me courage to walk forward in faith, trusting that whatever I face, I will never face it without You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
God Bless,
Geff & Sarah
